Paulo Fala que foi arrebatado aos céus e recebeu revelações que não lhe foram permitidas falar. Diz que as revelações foram tão excelentes que ele poderia se exaltar e então, foi permitido que ele tivesse um “espinho na carne”. Esse espinho causava dor ao Apóstolo Paulo e, essa dor era aplicada por um demônio (Mensageiro de Satanás).
Veja o texto em 2ª Coríntios 12:2-7 “Conheço um homem em Cristo que … foi arrebatado ao terceiro céu. E sei que o tal homem … ouviu palavras inefáveis, que ao homem não é lícito falar. … E, para que não me exaltasse pela excelência das revelações, foi-me dado um espinho na carne, a saber, um mensageiro de Satanás para me esbofetear, a fim de não me exaltar.”.
Deus permitiu isso para que Paulo não se exaltasse. O propósito desse espinho é explicado em 2ª Coríntios 12:9 e 10 “… O meu poder se aperfeiçoa na fraqueza. De boa vontade, pois, me gloriarei nas minhas fraquezas, para que em mim habite o poder de Cristo. Por isso sinto prazer nas fraquezas, nas injúrias, nas necessidades, nas perseguições, nas angústias por amor de Cristo. Porque quando estou fraco então sou forte.”.
Deus permitiu esta dor e sofrimento para aperfeiçoar o poder DEle na vida do Apóstolo Paulo. De fato, os relatos do poder de Deus agindo sobre a vida de Paulo foram sem igual em toda a história. Através de Paulo todos os que não eram judeus (gentios) foram alcançados.

Who Put a Thorn in Paul’s Flesh?
“And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.” – 2 Corinthians 12:7
Paul says he was caught up to heaven and received revelations that he was not permitted to speak about. He explains that the revelations were so great that he could have become proud, and therefore, he was allowed to have a “thorn in the flesh.” This thorn caused Paul pain, and this pain was inflicted by a demon (a messenger of Satan).
See the passage in 2 Corinthians 12:2–7: “I know a man in Christ who… was caught up to the third heaven. And I know that such a man… heard inexpressible words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. … And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.”
God allowed this so that Paul would not become proud. The purpose of this thorn is explained in 2 Corinthians 12:9–10: “… My strength is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
God allowed this pain and suffering to perfect His power in Paul’s life. Indeed, the accounts of God’s power working through Paul are unmatched in history. Through Paul, all who were not Jews (the Gentiles) were reached.
