Deus ordenou ao ser humano crescer, se multiplicar e encher a terra, ou seja, se espalhar e dominar sobre a terra. Veja o que diz em Gênesis 1:28 “… multiplicai-vos, e enchei a terra, e sujeitai-a; e dominai …”.
Porém, o homem decidiu ir contra a vontade de Deus fazendo exatamente o contrário como vemos em Gênesis 11:4 “E disseram: Eia, edifiquemos nós uma cidade e uma torre cujo cume toque nos céus, e façamo-nos um nome, para que não sejamos espalhados sobre a face de toda a terra.”.

Why Did God Confuse the Languages?
“Behold, the people are one, and they all have one language; and this is what they begin to do; and now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language…” – Genesis 11:6–7
God commanded human beings to grow, multiply, and fill the earth—that is, to spread out and exercise dominion over it. See what is written in Genesis 1:28: “…be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion…”.
However, mankind decided to go against God’s will by doing exactly the opposite, as we see in Genesis 11:4: “And they said, ‘Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered over the face of the whole earth.’”
God’s intervention ensured that His original command—to spread out and fill the earth—would be fulfilled. In the New Testament, on the day of Pentecost, we see God using different languages to proclaim the gospel, showing that He is able to unite again what was once scattered. Acts 2:6 says: “Each one heard them speaking in his own language.” Thus, we learn that God acts to restrain human pride, fulfill His purposes, and, in due time, restore communion through Christ.
