Lemos na bíblia em 1ª Coríntios 14:34-38
“… mas estejam sujeitas, como também ordena a lei. … Se alguém cuida ser profeta, ou espiritual, reconheça que as coisas que vos escrevo são Mandamentos do Senhor…”
Algumas pessoas argumentam que o Apóstolo Paulo era machista e, por isso, escreveu as ordenanças às mulheres contidas em 1ª Coríntios 14-34-38 e em 1ª Timóteo 2:9-15. Chamar um Apóstolo de Cristo de machista é, no mínimo, absurdo. As cartas de Paulo contidas na bíblia, também foram inspiradas pelo Espírito Santo de Deus, assim como os demais livros que lá estão. Como lemos nos versículos citados mais acima, Paulo afirma que estas orientações eram Ordenanças da Lei e Mandamentos do Senhor. Portanto, Paulo aqui, não fala de sua vontade mas, da direção de Deus.
Outro argumento furado é que aquele era um costume daquela época, porque algumas prostitutas que se convertiam ficavam interrompendo os cultos querendo debater questões durante a pregação do evangelho. Outro engano enorme. Não há, nem na bíblia, nem no relato histórico, nada que sustente ou sequer dê margem para este tipo de imaginação falsa.
Sei que nem tudo o que lemos na bíblia vai nos agradar e trazer consolo mas, muitas coisas vão nos trazer confronto. A palavra de Deus tem o objetivo de confrontar o pecador com o seu pecado e, por mais que não concordemos com algo, importa antes obedecer a Deus ou aos homens?

Was the Apostle Paul sexist or not?
We read in the bible in 1st Corinthians 14:34-38
“…but be subject, as the law also commands. … If anyone thinks he is a prophet, or spiritual, let him recognize that the things I write to you are Commandments of the Lord…”
Some people argue that the Apostle Paul was sexist and therefore wrote the ordinances for women contained in 1st Corinthians 14-34-38 and 1st Timothy 2:9-15. To call an Apostle of Christ a sexist is, to say the least, absurd. The letters of Paul contained in the bible, were also inspired by the Holy Spirit of God, as well as the other books that are there. As we read in the verses quoted above, Paul states that these guidelines were Ordinances of the Law and Commandments of the Lord. Therefore, Paul here does not speak of his will, but of the direction of God.
Another flawed argument is that this was a custom at that time, because some prostitutes who converted kept interrupting the services wanting to debate issues during the preaching of the gospel. Another huge mistake. There is nothing, neither in the bible, nor in the historical account, that supports or even gives rise to this kind of false imagination.
I know that not everything we read in the bible will please us and bring us comfort, but many things will bring us confrontation. The word of God has the objective of confronting the sinner with his sin and, as much as we don’t agree with something, does it matter first to obey God or men?
