O versículo acima fala do sepultamento de Cristo e de sua subida aos céus. Não diz que ele foi ao inferno. As passagens que deixam a entender que Cristo foi ao inferno não falam isso. Veja o que diz em 1ª Pedro 3:19 “No qual também foi, e pregou aos espíritos em prisão;”. Esta prisão se refere ao pecado e, no versículo anterior diz que Cristo pregou a estes em Espírito, ou seja, por intermédio de Noé, como vemos nos versículos seguintes no mesmo capítulo.
Outro versículo que traz confusão sobre este assunto é 1ª Pedro 4:6 “Porque por isto foi pregado o evangelho também aos mortos, para que, na verdade, fossem julgados segundo os homens na carne, mas vivessem segundo Deus em espírito;”. Estes mortos que o versículo cita, são aqueles que ainda não haviam ouvido a Palavra de Deus e estavam mortos em seus pecados, estes são os gentios como fala o versículo 3 deste mesmo capítulo.
Ou seja, Cristo não foi ao inferno pregar para ninguém, os mortos e a prisão são referências ao pecado que traz condenação.

Did Jesus Really Descend into Hell?
“Now this, ‘He ascended’—what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth?” – Ephesians 4:9
The verse above speaks of Christ’s burial and His ascension into heaven. It does not say that He went to hell. The passages that are often interpreted to mean Christ went to hell do not actually state that. Look at what 1 Peter 3:19 says: “by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison.” This prison refers to sin, and the previous verse states that Christ preached to these in Spirit—that is, through Noah, as seen in the following verses of the same chapter.
Another verse that causes confusion on this subject is 1 Peter 4:6: “For this reason the gospel was preached also to those who are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.” These “dead” mentioned in the verse are those who had not yet heard the Word of God and were dead in their sins; these are the Gentiles, as mentioned in verse 3 of this same chapter.
In other words, Christ did not go to hell to preach to anyone; the “dead” and the “prison” are references to the sin that brings condemnation.
