What if an Authority Forbids Me from Preaching the Gospel?
“But Peter and the apostles answered, ‘We must obey God rather than men.'” – Acts 5:29
The Bible teaches us to obey authorities. Look at what it says in Romans 13:1-2: “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.”
The only exception to this rule occurs if an authority commands us to go against the will of God, as we see in Acts 5:29: “But Peter and the apostles answered, ‘We must obey God rather than men.'”
