Was Christ Born on the Day We Celebrate Christmas?
“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” – Luke 2:11
The Bible does not reveal the exact day Christ was born. Scholars and historical records indicate that Christ’s birth may not have taken place in December. However, the biblical focus is not on the date but on the real and life-changing fact that the Savior came into the world. Matthew 1:23 declares, “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel,” which means “God with us.”
Christian faith is not built on dates but on the reality of the work of Jesus. The Bible emphasizes that He came to save us, not to establish a commemorative date. See what 1 Timothy 1:15 says: “Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.”
Celebrating Christmas is an opportunity to remember and proclaim the greatest gift ever given to humanity: salvation through Jesus Christ.
