Were Behemoth and Leviathan Dinosaurs?
“Avoid profane and idle babblings, for those who indulge in them will progress further into ungodliness.” – 2 Timothy 2:16
The Bible reports in the book of Job two extremely strong creatures: Behemoth – Job 40:15–24, and Leviathan – Job 41:1–10. At no point can we affirm that the Bible is describing dinosaurs. The context here is God showing Job how small and weak he is before God and His creation.
Job questioned God, and God showed Job how futile it was to challenge the Creator of all things. See Job’s response afterward in Job 42:1–6: “Then Job answered the LORD and said: ‘I know that You can do all things, and that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted. … I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know. Hear, and I will speak; I will question You, and You shall instruct me. I had heard of You by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees You. Therefore I despise myself, and repent in dust and ashes.’”
Do not read the Bible seeking scientific proof; read the Bible seeking to hear the voice of God.
