Did Jesus Disrespect Mary When Speaking About His Family?
“For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” – Matthew 12:50
Jesus did not disrespect Mary when speaking of His family. On the contrary, He used that situation to teach that, in the Kingdom of God, the most important bond is spiritual. Mary was never excluded from this truth, as she presented herself as God’s obedient servant from the very beginning. See what Lucas 1:38 says: “And Mary said, ‘Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.’”
