“… Por amor de ti somos entregues à morte todo o dia; Somos reputados como ovelhas para o matadouro. Mas em todas estas coisas somos mais do que vencedores …”. – Romanos 8:36 e 37
Embora o termo kamikaze signifique “vento divino” e tenha sido atribuído aos pilotos suicidas da força aérea japonesa na Segunda Guerra Mundial, o cristão é chamado a morrer para suas próprias vontades. É uma entrega absoluta onde a vida antiga deixa de existir. Veja os versículos a seguir:

- Filipenses 1:21 “Porque para mim o viver é Cristo, e o morrer é ganho.”;
- Atos 20:24 “Mas em nada tenho a minha vida por preciosa, contanto que cumpra com alegria a minha carreira, e o ministério que recebi do Senhor Jesus.”.
Diferente do conceito japonês de morte física imediata, o cristianismo propõe uma “morte” contínua onde o corpo se torna uma ferramenta para Deus. Veja o que diz em Romanos 12:1 “Rogo-vos, pois, irmãos […] que apresenteis os vossos corpos em sacrifício vivo, santo e agradável a Deus.”.
O “sacrifício” bíblico é focado em amor e serviço. A “morte” do cristão é simbólica (morte para o pecado) para que ele possa viver uma nova vida em Cristo. Are We All Kamikazes?

Although the term kamikaze means “divine wind” and was attributed to the suicide pilots of the Japanese Air Force in World War II, the Christian is called to die to their own will. It is an absolute surrender where the old life ceases to exist. Note the following verses:

The biblical “sacrifice” is focused on love and service. The Christian’s “death” is symbolic (dying to sin) so that they may live a new life in Christ.
