A Bíblia ensina que o ser humano não é apenas corpo, mas também alma e espírito. O corpo é físico e retorna ao pó, enquanto o espírito vem de Deus e a Ele retorna. A alma, porém, está ligada à consciência, o centro de nossos sentimentos.
A morte não é o fim da existência como lemos em Hebreus 9:27 “E, como aos homens está ordenado morrerem uma só vez, vindo depois disso o juízo.”.
A alma é imortal, continua existindo após a morte do corpo. Veja o que diz em Mateus 10:28 “E não temais os que matam o corpo e não podem matar a alma; temei antes aquele que pode fazer perecer no inferno tanto a alma como o corpo.”.
Já o espírito é aquilo que nos conecta a Deus. Sem Cristo, o ser humano está espiritualmente morto; com Cristo, recebe vida espiritual. Como vemos em 1ª Tessalonicenses 5:23 “E o mesmo Deus de paz vos santifique em tudo; e todo o vosso espírito, alma e corpo sejam plenamente conservados irrepreensíveis para a vinda de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.”.

Is the Soul Immortal? And the Spirit?
“And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.” – Ecclesiastes 12:7
The Bible teaches that the human being is not only body, but also soul and spirit. The body is physical and returns to dust, while the spirit comes from God and returns to Him. The soul, however, is connected to consciousness and is the center of our feelings.
Death is not the end of existence, as we read in Hebrews 9:27: And just as it is appointed for men to die once, and after that comes judgment.
The soul is immortal and continues to exist after the death of the body. See what is written in Matthew 10:28: And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
The spirit, in turn, is what connects us to God. Without Christ, the human being is spiritually dead; with Christ, one receives spiritual life. As we see in 1 Thessalonians 5:23: Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
