“Então todos os filhos de Israel, e todo o povo, subiram, e vieram a Betel e choraram, e estiveram ali perante o Senhor, e jejuaram aquele dia até à tarde; e ofereceram holocaustos e ofertas pacíficas perante o Senhor.”. – Juízes 20:26
Esse Jejum coletivo durou menos de 1 dia. Foi resultado da derrota e da humilhação na guerra de Israel contra a tribo de Benjamin. Alguns dias depois Israel vence.
Mas lembre-se que o motivo do jejum não pode ser questões egoístas nem materiais. Os que fizeram isso foram exortados por Deus como vemos a seguir:
Isaías 58:3-9 “… Por que jejuamos nós, e tu não atentas para isso? … Eis que no dia em que jejuais achais o vosso próprio contentamento, … Eis que para contendas e debates jejuais, e para ferirdes com punho iníquo; … Chamarias tu a isto jejum e dia aprazível ao Senhor? Porventura não é este o jejum que escolhi, que soltes as ligaduras da impiedade, que desfaças as ataduras do jugo e que deixes livres os oprimidos, … que repartas o teu pão com o faminto, e recolhas em casa os pobres abandonados; e, quando vires o nu, o cubras, e não te escondas da tua carne? Então romperá a tua luz como a alva, e a tua cura apressadamente brotará, e a tua justiça irá adiante de ti, e a glória do Senhor será a tua retaguarda. Então clamarás, e o Senhor te responderá;”.
Jejum nem sempre é sobre abrir mão de alimento mas se aproximar de Deus e cumprir a vontade dEle.

How to Fast 3 of 7 — Can I Join a Collective Fast?
“Then all the children of Israel and all the people went up and came to Bethel, and wept, and sat there before the Lord, and fasted that day until evening; and they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord.” – Judges 20:26
This collective fast lasted less than one day. It was the result of Israel’s defeat and humiliation in the war against the tribe of Benjamin. A few days later, Israel won the battle.
But remember that the reason for fasting must not be selfish or materialistic. Those who fasted with wrong motives were rebuked by God, as we see below:
Isaiah 58:3–9
“… ‘Why have we fasted,’ they say, ‘and You have not seen? … Indeed, in the day of your fast you find pleasure, … Indeed you fast for strife and debate, and to strike with the fist of wickedness; … Is this what you call a fast, a day acceptable to the Lord? Is this not the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free, … to share your bread with the hungry, and that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; when you see the naked, that you cover him, and not hide yourself from your own flesh? Then your light shall break forth like the morning, your healing shall spring forth speedily, your righteousness shall go before you, and the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard. Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer.’”
Fasting is not always about giving up food, but about drawing near to God and fulfilling His will.

禁食并不总是指放弃食物，更重要的是亲近神并遵行祂的旨意。
