Como o Cristão deve lidar com a Perseguição e a Violência?

“Se o mundo os odeia, tenham em mente que antes odiou a mim. Se vocês pertencessem ao mundo, ele os amaria como se fossem dele. Todavia, vocês não são do mundo, mas eu os escolhi, tirando-os do mundo; por isso o mundo os odeia.” – João 15:18 e 19

A violência e a perseguição aumentam a cada dia e já sabíamos que seria assim. Agora precisamos saber como agir em cada situação:

Em relação a violência contra si:

  • Trabalhe pela paz. Romanos 12:18 “Se for possível, quanto depender de vós, tende paz com todos os homens.”;
  • Retribua o mal com o bem. Romanos 12:21 “Não te deixes vencer do mal, mas vence o mal com o bem.”;
  • Não se vingue, a vingança pertence a Deus. Romanos 12:19 “Não vos vingueis a vós mesmos, amados, mas daí lugar à ira de Deus…”;
  • Ore por seus inimigos e pelos que te perseguem. Mateus 5:44 “Amai os vossos inimigos e orai pelos que vos perseguem.”.

Sei que parece impossível fazer isso em meio a uma perseguição, violência ou opressão. Porém, fazendo isso saímos da frente e deixamos Deus agir. O próprio Deus é quem vai se vingar e vir em nossa defesa. Mas, quando descumprimos as orientações da Palavra de Deus o inimigo tem autoridade para agir.

Em relação às autoridades:

  • Respeite, honre e ore pelas autoridades. 1ª Timóteo 2:1 e 2 “Antes de tudo, recomendo que se façam súplicas, orações, intercessões e ação de graças por todos os homens; pelos reis e por todos os que exercem autoridade, para que tenhamos uma vida tranquila e pacífica, com toda a piedade e dignidade.”;
  • A única exceção a esta regra está em Atos 5:28 e 29 “Não vos admoestamos nós expressamente que não ensinásseis nesse nome? … Porém, respondendo Pedro e os apóstolos, disseram: Mais importa obedecer a Deus do que aos homens.”.

Quando Devemos Resistir:

  • Proteja a vida. Êxodo 20:13 “Não matarás”;
  • Proteja os seus. 1ª Timóteo 5:8 “Mas, se alguém não tem cuidado dos seus, e principalmente dos da sua família, negou a fé, e é pior do que o infiel.”;
  • Resista ao diabo. Tiago 4:7 “Sujeitai-vos, portanto, a Deus; mas resisti ao diabo, e ele fugirá de vós”.

Em Relação às Outras Vítimas:

  • Ame e ajude o próximo. Mateus 22:37 – 40 “Amarás o Senhor teu Deus de todo o teu coração, … Amarás o teu próximo como a ti mesmo. Destes dois mandamentos dependem toda a lei e os profetas.”;
  • Cuide das vítimas e pregue a esperança da justiça de Deus. Mateus 5:6 “Bem-aventurados os que têm fome e sede de justiça, porque eles serão fartos;”.

Por fim o cristão deve saber o seguinte: 2ª Timóteo 3:12 “Todos os que piamente querem viver em Cristo Jesus padecerão perseguições.”. Desta forma, ser perseguido por defender a verdade é um privilégio e uma enorme honra. Mas lembre-se que a verdade é Cristo!

How Should Christians Deal with Persecution and Violence?

“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.” – John 15:18–19

Violence and persecution increase every day, and we already knew it would be this way. Now we need to know how to act in each situation:

Regarding violence against oneself:

  • Work for peace. Romans 12:18: “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”

  • Repay evil with good. Romans 12:21: “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”

  • Do not take revenge; vengeance belongs to God. Romans 12:19: “Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath…”

  • Pray for your enemies and those who persecute you. Matthew 5:44: “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”

It may seem impossible to do this in the midst of persecution, violence, or oppression. However, by doing so, we step aside and allow God to act. God Himself will avenge and defend us. But when we disregard God’s Word, the enemy gains authority to act.

Regarding authorities:

  • Respect, honor, and pray for authorities. 1 Timothy 2:1–2: “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”

  • The only exception is Acts 5:28–29: “We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name… But Peter and the apostles replied: ‘We must obey God rather than human beings!’”

When Should We Resist?

  • Protect life. Exodus 20:13: “You shall not murder.”

  • Protect your family. 1 Timothy 5:8: “Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”

  • Resist the devil. James 4:7: “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Regarding other victims:

  • Love and help your neighbor. Matthew 22:37–40: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart… Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

  • Care for victims and preach the hope of God’s justice. Matthew 5:6: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”

Finally, the Christian must understand this: 2 Timothy 3:12: “In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” Thus, being persecuted for defending the truth is a privilege and a great honor. But remember—the truth is Christ!

关于掌权者：

  • 唯一的例外在使徒行传 5:28–29：“我们不是严严地禁止你们，不可奉这名教训人吗？……彼得和众使徒回答说：顺从神，不顺从人，是应当的！”

什么时候应当抵抗？

  • 保护生命。出埃及记 20:13：“不可杀人。”

  • 照顾受害者，并传讲神公义的盼望。马太福音 5:6：“饥渴慕义的人有福了！因为他们必得饱足。”

最后，基督徒必须知道：提摩太后书 3:12：“凡立志在基督耶稣里敬虔度日的，也都要受逼迫。” 因此，为真理受逼迫是特权，是极大的荣耀。但要记住，真理就是基督！
