“Então disse o Senhor: Não contenderá o meu Espírito para sempre com o homem; porque ele também é carne; porém os seus dias serão cento e vinte anos.”. – Gênesis 6:3
O que vemos no versículo acima é a contagem regressiva para o dilúvio. No contexto anjos caídos estavam se relacionando com mulheres e criando uma nova raça de híbridos gigantes e, 120 anos após este relato vemos Deus destruindo o mundo pela água, poupando apenas Noé e sua família.
Neste sentido a questão de 120 anos não é uma limitação específica da bíblia, embora seja difícil encontrar pessoas vivas acima desta idade.
Porém, para os que confiam em Deus, a fragilidade da nossa vida aqui não é o fim, mas o início de algo maior. A certeza de que esta existência é passageira nos consola, pois sabemos que em Cristo há vida eterna, onde não haverá mais dor nem fim, apenas plenitude na presença do Criador.
Veja o que diz em Apocalipse 21:4 “Ele enxugará dos olhos toda lágrima; não haverá mais morte, nem tristeza, nem choro, nem dor, pois a antiga ordem já passou.”.

Was Humanity Limited to Only 120 Years?
“Then the Lord said, ‘My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.’” – Genesis 6:3
What we see in the verse above is the countdown to the flood. In the context, fallen angels were relating with women and creating a new race of hybrid giants, and 120 years after this account, we see God destroying the world with water, sparing only Noah and his family.
In this sense, the question of 120 years is not a specific limitation in the Bible, although it is rare to find people living beyond this age.
However, for those who trust in God, the fragility of our life here is not the end, but the beginning of something greater. The certainty that this existence is temporary comforts us, for we know that in Christ there is eternal life, where there will be no more pain or end, only fullness in the presence of the Creator.
