A bíblia ensina que o dízimo é um voto levítico no qual judeus se comprometem a entregar no templo 10% de sua renda anual. Não é e nem nunca foi obrigatório para nenhum outro povo a não ser os judeus. Essa aliança ocorreu, pois, a tribo de Levi ficaria com a obrigação de cuidar do templo não podendo exercer nenhum outro trabalho, assim, as demais tribos sustentariam os levitas e o templo.
As ofertas também não são obrigatórias. Podem ser dadas por qualquer um desde que seja de vontade própria e por alegria, nunca por necessidade e nem obrigação. A bíblia também ensina que qualquer oferta ou ajuda deve ser dada em secreto e sem chamar atenção. Também não há um valor pré-determinado, deve ser conforme o seu coração.

Should I Tithe and Give Offerings?
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, NOT reluctantly or under compulsion; …” – 2 Corinthians 9:7
The Bible teaches that the tithe is a Levitical vow in which Jews committed to delivering 10% of their annual income to the temple. It is not, and never was, mandatory for any people other than the Jews. This covenant occurred because the tribe of Levi was given the obligation to care for the temple and could not hold any other job; thus, the other tribes would support the Levites and the temple.
Offerings are also not mandatory. They can be given by anyone as long as it is of their own free will and out of joy, never out of necessity or obligation. The Bible also teaches that any offering or help should be given in secret and without drawing attention. There is also no pre-determined amount; it should be according to your heart.
